About the Artist

Although I have been many things over the years, at heart I have always been an artist. My fascination with fantasy art in particular began in my childhood, with films such as The Last Unicorn, Flight of Dragons and Sleeping Beauty serving as early sources of inspiration. Fantasy is, by far, the genre that appeals to me the most as a drawer and painter. The freedom to depict otherworldly scenes and creatures is an endless source of enjoyment for me.

Being something of a technical whiz (read: geek), it was only natural that my art would migrate onto the computer. The convenience of working without paints, solvents or other mess was very appealing. It allowed for greater spontaneity in my work: once I have an idea, I can immediately put it down on canvas with zero preparation. The ability to make quick (and non-destructive) alterations on the fly is also a great benefit when producing work for clients.

Much of my artistic time is spent in my head, endlessly creating new imagery to work from. I also inundate myself with countless forms of outside inspiration: the great outdoors, books, movies, animation and sculpture. I'm always eager to learn new techniques, studying everyday objects to better recreate a living, breathing fantasy world. Like many artists, I also have an extensive collection of dragons, anime figures and other models for physical reference. One can never have too many toys...
